PROFILE
The attorneys in Miller Law Firm combine nearly four decades of litigation and trial experience. We take our cases very seriously and treat each client with the personal attention and respect that they and their case deserve. Our basic fee schedule for attorney fees and expenses are included in the FAQ page. Miller Law Firm and staff represent clients in four major areas of litigation.
ATTORNEYS J. Douglas Miller doug@millerlitigation.net J. Douglas Miller is the senior partner of the firm and recently left the firm of Miller & Diepenbrock, where he was senior partner, to form the firm of Miller Law Firm with his son, Derek W. Miller. The senior Mr. Miller brings to the Firm over 33 years of legal, trial and litigation experience in criminal, civil, personal injury and family law. He has appeared in Municipal and District Courts throughout Western Kansas and also the Kansas Court of Appeals and the Kansas Supreme Court as well as the Federal Courts. Mr. Miller has handled over 1000 court trials. He is a 1974 graduate of Washburn University School of Law in Topeka, Kansas, and is admitted to practice in the Kansas Supreme court and the Federal District courts in Kansas and Colorado. He is a member of the Kansas Bar Association and past President of the Seward County Bar Association. Mr. Miller served as counsel to the Seward County Board of Commissioners for 9 years and as a Municipal Court Prosecutor. Derek W. Miller derek@millerlitigation.net Derek W. Miller graduated with his Juris Doctorate degree from Washburn University School of Law in May of 2001. He graduated in the top 10% of his law school class and was captain of the Washburn University Moot Court team in his senior year, appearing in Moot Court Competitions throughout the nation. Upon graduation from law school, Derek joined a prestigious firm in Overland Park, Kansas where he practiced in the area of personal injury and insurance law for four years before returning to Liberal, Kansas, his home town. Derek has experience in criminal law, both misdemeanor and felony, and in personal injury representation, including vehicular accidents. Derek has litigated several important jury and court trials and handled substantial litigation matters. STAFF The staff at Miller Law Firm is experienced and professional. Paralegals Brandy Wilson (brandy@millerlitigation.net) and Kay Dee Carter (kaydee@millerlitigation.net) have substantial experience in assisting in the cases handled by the Firm, which they have gained over the past 11 years in the legal field. Brandy and Kay Dee are qualified and experienced in the legal field to assist the Firm in investigating and preparing each case for trial. Their hands on experience with each client is done in an extremely friendly and relaxed, but professional, manner. Nora Beltran (nora@millerlitigation.net) is the Firm’s receptionist/legal secretary. Nora is bilingual.
